Kootenay Lake is over 80 miles long and is nestled between the snow capped peaks of the Purcells and Selkirk Mountains. Boating and fishing are unbeatable with boat rentals and guides available in the area. Crawford Bay offers better protection for canoers and kayakers than the open waters of the main Lake. Rentals are available locally.

For the outdoor enthusiasts there are numerous hiking and biking trails. Some of them follow the shoreline, while others follow the rolling terrain of the Pilot Bay Peninsula. The logging roads of Crawford Creek and Gray Creek provide access to mountain lakes and breathtaking alpine country.

Enjoying a short walk you can visit renowned local artisans and watch ironworking, glass blowing, broom-making and weaving on hand looms. The post office, general store, liquor outlet and service station are all within walking distance. There are many excellent restaurants in the immediate area.

Across the lake you will find many more interesting places where you can golf, fish, eat and swim.
